Javea
Javea (or Xabia) is on the Costa Blanca and in the Province of Valencia. Javea boasts 25km of coastline a tourist and maritime town of great beauty and magical landscapes – it is a haven of peace and serenity. Here, nature has been so generous that it is difficult to find a similar place. The sea is pure blue, clean and revealing and the landscape offers lush vegetation and many local species of flora and fauna.
The clean, warm, blue Mediterranean Sea washes it’s blue flag golden sandy beaches to include Pope, Tango, Arenal, Barraca, Falsia and Granadella alternating with coves and cliffs where you can enjoy hours of sun and sea. With its variety of landscape and mild year round climate Javea is a jewel on the Costa Blanca.
The old town of Javea is a small and historic area, steeped in history, with narrow streets, tosca stone porticoes, large gothic bay windows, wrought iron window grilles and balcony railings. The church of San Bartolemé in the town centre is an example of late gothic style. The old town is free of high-rise buildings and the area offers a relaxing holiday. There is an indoor market selling fruit, vegetables and meat and fresh fish is brought up from the Port each day. Aduanas del Mar is the area generally known as the Port, with its lovely sea promenade and numerous fish restaurants. The harbour where the fishing boats dock lies next to the attractive marina that is always busy with private boats of all shapes and sizes.
Pavement cafés and bars overlooking the Mediterranean invite you to sit and take a drink just enjoying the ambience of the Port. There are two very attractive pebble beaches - one in the port itself and the other at the marina end of the port. The latter, Tango, is small but located in a beautiful setting. A great place for snorkelling and there is a beach bar and restaurant so you can spend the whole day there.The Arenal area is the commercial and tourist area. The famous Javea beach is a safe golden sandy bay in a beautiful location with a wide and sheltered inlet of fine sand and clean shallow waters. A blue flag standard beach of 11 years, it is planted with palm trees and has several play areas for children. In the summer months there are volleyball nets, water rafts and pedaloes. The bay is ringed by the promenade and provides a wonderful selection of International bars and restaurants plus dozens of interesting shops and boutiques.
Sports & Leisure
Javea has one of the most attractive seaports along the Mediterranean, due both to its location and to its unsurpassed fishing and sports facilities. The modern Yacht Club at the sports marina has nearly 300 berths and facilities for all types of water sports, sailing, fishing, scuba diving, water skiing, windsurfing etc. Just outside the town, surrounded by pines and orange groves, the Javea Golf Club offers a pleasant setting for golfers. There are also several other golf courses within easy access of Javea. In addition a number of sports clubs and associations in the area promote tennis, horse riding and clay pigeon shooting.Fiestas
From 28 April – 3 May, Jesus the Nazarene is honoured, and from 1 –8 September the patroness Our Lady of Loreto is the object of devotion. The Javea town fiesta is held during the second fortnight of July and is an occasion for feasting, dancing, parades, music and fireworks, as are the Moors & Christians parades at the end of July.During the rest of the year there are other smaller fiestas for celebration please ask if you want your holiday to coincide with a fiesta. Javea with its variety of landscape, ranging from sandy coastlines to rugged mountain areas, its mild year-round climate, careful planning policies and extensive tourist facilities, is a jewel on the Costa Blanca, combining beauty and modern facilities with the charm of an ancient fishing village
